The Sacredness of the Quran and Its Copies

By this is meant the angels who copy the Holy Quran from the Divine Tablet onto sheets and pages. Allah Almighty has praised them.

From this, we learn that the papers on which the Quran is written, the pens used for writing it, and the people who write it are all sacred.

Respect for the Holy Quran

Furthermore, we must place the Holy Quran on the highest level and not turn our feet or backs towards it. An impure person should not touch it, as is understood from the terms honored, exalted, and purified.

The Purity of the Noble Companions

Also, all the Noble Companions are considered pious because they are the bearers of the Holy Quran. Allah Almighty calls the bearers of the Quran noble and virtuous.

Ibn-Kathir

Ala-Maududi

(80:14) most exalted and purified,[5]

5. Purified: free from all kinds of mixtures of false ideas and thoughts, and presenting nothing but the pure truth. There is no tinge whatever in these scrolls of the impurities with which the other religious books of the world have been polluted. They have been kept pure and secure from all kinds of human speculation and evil suggestions.
