Tafseer (Commentary) of the Verse

"And soon your Lord shall give so much that you (O beloved Prophet) shall be well pleased [5]"

Explanation of "And soon your Lord shall give so much that you (O beloved Prophet) shall be well pleased"

Allah Almighty will grant the Holy Prophet ﷺ such abundance in this world that He will make him very happy. This includes countless miracles and favors that Allah has granted to the Prophet ﷺ, which demonstrate His love and favor.

The Blessings Bestowed Upon the Holy Prophet ﷺ

  • Allah granted the Holy Prophet ﷺ countless miracles, making him the very embodiment of miracles.
  • The Prophet ﷺ’s religion spread from East to West, encompassing the four corners of the world.
  • Allah provided the Prophet ﷺ with a huge progeny and the largest Ummah (followers).
  • He was granted all knowledge of the past and the future.
  • Allah raised and elevated his remembrance, making it an essential criterion for success in the grave test until the Day of Judgement.
  • Angels, human beings, and jinns extend salutations to the Prophet ﷺ at his Sacred Tomb.
  • Allah also granted him major bounties like general intercession for sinful believers, the Lofty Station, the Fountain of Kauthar, and other divine gifts.

The Prophet’s ﷺ Happiness

  • Upon the revelation of this verse, the Holy Prophet ﷺ said:
"By Allah! I will not be pleased and happy until the last of my followers is out of Hell."
  • This shows the deep compassion and concern the Prophet ﷺ has for his followers, wanting them to be saved from Hell.

What is Meant by "Abundance"

  • The verse does not only refer to the Prophet ﷺ’s Prophethood, revelation, or his status as the Beloved of Allah, as these were already granted before the revelation of Surah Al-Duha.
  • Allah also refers to the abundance of good which includes bounties and favors beyond our imagination.
  • Allah says in Surah Al-Kawthar (107:1): "O Beloved! Undoubtedly, We have bestowed upon you an abundance of good."

Important  Points Emerging from this Verse

  1. The Special Love of Allah Almighty for the Prophet ﷺ

    • All Prophets seek the love of Allah and the desire to please Him, but our Beloved Prophet ﷺ is uniquely the object of Allah's pleasure.
    • Many laws in Islam were revealed specifically to please the Holy Prophet ﷺ, such as the changing of the Qibla, freeing prisoners of war by receiving ransom, etc.
  2. The Status of the Parents of the Holy Prophet ﷺ

    • The parents of the Holy Prophet ﷺ are inmates of Paradise because Allah Almighty would never allow anything that would cause grief to His Beloved Prophet ﷺ.
    • Allah will never send them into Hell, as this would be displeasing to the Prophet ﷺ.
  3. The Special Status of the Beloved Devotees of the Holy Prophet ﷺ

    • Allah Almighty will certainly grant Paradise to those who are devoted to the Holy Prophet ﷺ because in doing so, they will earn the pleasure and approval of the Prophet ﷺ.

Ala-Maududi

(93:5) Verily your Lord will soon give you so amply that you will be well-pleased.[5]

5. That is, although it will take some time, yet the time isnot far when your Lord will bless you with so much thatyou will be well pleased. This promise was fulfilled duringthe lifetime of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and allArabia, from the southern coasts to the Syrian frontiers ofthe Byzantine empire and the Iraqi frontiers of the Persianempire in the north, and from the Persian Gulf in the eastto the Red Sea in the west, came under his control. For thefirst time in the history of Arabia this land became subjectto one law and rule. Whichever power clashed with it wasdoomed to destruction. The slogan La-ilaha-illallah-uMuhammad-ur-Rasul-Allah reverberated throughout theland where the polytheists and the followers of the earlierscriptures had tried their utmost to keep their false creedsand slogans aloft till the last. The people not only bowedtheir heads in obedience, their hearts were also conqueredand their beliefs, morals and acts were revolutionized. There is no precedent in human history that nation sunk inpaganism might have completely changed in only 23 years. Then the movement started by the Prophet (peace be uponhim) gathered such power that it spread over a larger partof Asia, Africa and Europe and its influence reached everynook and corner of the world. This much Allah gave HisMessenger (peace be upon him) in the world, the glory andextent of what He will give him in the Hereafter cannot beimagined. Also see (Surah TaHa, ayat 131).

(5) And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.
