إِنۡ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوۡتَتُنَا ٱلۡأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ

Transliteration:( In hiya illaa mawtatunal oolaa wa maa nahnu bimun shareen )

35. "It is only our first and the only death [35] and we shall not be raised [36] again". (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

📖 Commentary of Surah Ad-Dukhan – Verse 35

"It is only our first and the only death [35] and we shall not be raised [36] again."

✅ [35] Denial of the Hereafter

Like Pharaoh, his people too denied the Hereafter, rejecting both resurrection and accountability. Their statement reflects rebellion, making them deserving of the same punishment.

Islam also believes in one worldly death, so the intent here is clear: their purpose was to deny the Day of Judgement.

✅ [36] Rejection of Resurrection

This part clarifies the meaning—that they did not believe in being raised again. Hence, it is not disbelief to say there is only one death, but to deny resurrection is what makes it infidelity.
