Quran Quote  :  O Prophet, enjoin your wives and your daughters and the believing women, to draw a part of their outer coverings around them. It is likelier that they will be recognised and not molested. Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful. - 33:59

Surah Adh-Dhariyat Ayat 35 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Ala-Madudi

36. This means when punishment descended upon Sodom, Hazrat Lut (On whom be peace) and those who had believed in him were taken out of there. As soon as the place consisted of infidels only, then Divine punishment was sent upon them. Allah Almighty does not send His punishment on a place where graves of his pious servants are found.

37. This tells us that no punishment comes on the sinners in the presence of the pious. Before punishment is ordered for that place, the pious servants are removed from it. Says Allah Almighty: "If they had been separated, necessarily then We would have punished the infidels among them"(S48:V25).

33. As to what happened between them and the people of the Prophet Lot (peace be upon him) when the angels reached his house after their meeting with the Prophet Abraham (peace be upon them), has been left out. The details have been given in the Surahs Hood, Al-Hijr and Al Ankabut. Here mention is being made only of the time when they were going to be visited by the scourge.

(35) So We brought out whoever was in them [i.e., the cities] of the believers.
