Transliteration:( Qul lany yanfa'akumul firaaru in farartum minal mawti awil qatli wa izal laa tumatta'oona illaa qaleelaa )
36. This means that through this running away, you will be held guilty of absconding from Jihad, yet you will not gain any worldly benefits If you are destined to be slain today, it will certainly take place, but if your death is not destined to take place, you will certainly die after a little while. Then why are you taking upon yourself such a great burden of sin for such a brief imaginary life"
The tafsir of Surah Ahzab verse 16 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Ahzab ayat 14 which provides the complete commentary from verse 14 through 17.
(33:16) (O Prophet), tell them: “If you run away from death or slaying, this flight will not avail you. You will have little time after that to enjoy[28] (the pleasures of life).”
28. That is, this flight of yours will not add anything to your life. In no case will you live forever and gain the whole wealth of the world. Hardly a few years will you live after your flight and enjoy life only as long as it is destined for you.
