Transliteration:( Wa yawma yahshuruhum jamee'ai yaa ma'sharal jinni qadistaksartum minal insi wa qaala awliyaa'uhum minal insi Rabbanas tamta'a ba'dunaa biba'dinw wa balaghnaaa ajalannal lazeee ajjalta lanaa; qaalan Naaru maswaakum khaalideena feehaaa illaa maa shaaa'allaah; inna Rabbaka Hakeemun 'Aleem )

128. And the day He will gather them all [283], and He will say: "O company of jinn [284]! You have certainly made use of many among mankind." Their allies from among mankind will say: "O our Lord! We have enjoyed one another [285] and we have reached the term You have appointed for us." He will say: "The Fire is your abode, therein you will abide forever, except as Allah wills [286]. Indeed, your Lord is Wise, All-Knowing." (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(128) And [mention, O Muḥammad], the Day when He will gather them together [and say], "O company of jinn, you have [misled] many of mankind." And their allies among mankind will say, "Our Lord, some of us made use of others, and we have [now] reached our term which You appointed for us." He will say, "The Fire is your residence, wherein you will abide eternally, except for what Allāh wills. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing." (Saheen International Translation)

Surah Al-Anam Ayat 128 Tafsir (Commentry)

283. On the Day of Judgement, all will first be raised together, thus it is called YAUMUL HASHR or Day of Resurrection; then the good will be gleaned and pruned from the evil, thus it is called YAUMUL FASL or Day of Reckoning. By raising everybody means Allah will raise the believers and non-believers together, or man and jinn together, or the good and wicked together.

284. This is addressed to those rebellious jinns who had misled and deceived human beings. The believing jinns will be mercy from Allah Almighty. From this, we learn that jinns create evil ventures and hazards in the hearts of man, and guide them towards evil, especially the devil and his progeny.

285. By this it meant man derived benefits from jinns i.e. these jinns showed the evil path and made their deception easier for the evil doers to follow and jinns derived benefit from the human beings, in that man worshipped them. This benefit is meant to benefit of this world which in reality is ruination.

286. The word 'term' refers to death or Qiyamah. The time for every individual's death is determined separately, while Qiyamah signifies everybody's time. Hence, the use of 'for us' is most appropriate.

287. By this, it meant those infidels whose faith has come within the ambit of Divine Will will not go to Jahannam because they will die as believers. This does not in any way mean that some infidels will after being placed into Hell be taken out of it.

Ibn-Kathir

128. And on the Day when He will gather them together (and say): “O you assembly of Jinn! Many did you mislead of men,” and their friends among the people will say: “Our Lord! We benefited one from the other, but now we have reached our appointed term which You did appoint for us. ” He will say: “The Fire be your dwelling place, you will dwell therein forever, except as Allah may will. Certainly your Lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing.”) Allah says, `Mention, O Muhammad, in what you convey and warn,’ that,

(on the Day when He will gather them (all) together.) gather the Jinns and their loyal supporters from mankind who used to worship them in this life, seek refuge with them, obey them and inspire each other with adorned, deceitful speech. Allah will proclaim then,

(O you assembly of Jinn! Many did you mislead of men,) So the Ayah;

(Many did you mislead of men) refers to their misguiding and leading them astray. Allah also said;

(Did I not command you, O Children of Adam, that you should not worship Shaytan. Verily, he is a plain enemy to you. And that you should worship Me. That is the straight path. And indeed he (Shaytan) did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did you not, then, understand) ﴿36:60-62﴾, and

(and their friends among the people will say: “Our Lord! We benefited one from the other…”) The friends of the Jinns among humanity will give this answer to Allah, after Allah chastises them for being misguided by the Jinns. Al-Hasan commented, “They benefited from each other when the Jinns merely commanded and mankind obeyed.” Ibn Jurayj said, “During the time of Jahiliyyah, a man would reach a land and proclaim, `I seek refuge with the master (Jinn) of this valley,’ and this is how they benefited from each other. They used this as an excuse for them on the Day of Resurrection.” Therefore, the Jinns benefit from humans since humans revere the Jinns by invoking them for help. The Jinns would then proclaim, “We became the masters of both mankind and the Jinns.”

(but now we have reached our appointed term which You did appoint for us.) meaning, death, according to As-Suddi.

(He (Allah) will say: “The Fire be your dwelling place…”) where you will reside and live, you and your friends,

(you will dwell therein forever. ) and will never depart except what Allah may will.

(6:128) And on the Day when He shall muster them all together, He will say (to the jinn):[94] ‘O assembly of the jinn, you have seduced a good many of mankind.’ And their companions from among the humans will say: ‘Our Lord! We did indeed benefit from one another[95] and now have reached the term which You had set for us.’ Thereupon Allah will say: ‘The Fire is now your abode, and therein you shall abide.’ Only those whom Allah wills shall escape the Fire. Surely your Lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing.[96]

94. The term finn here refers to the evil ones among the jinn.

95. This means that they had derived unfair benefit from one another and had served their selfish ends by mutual deception.

96. Even though God has the right to punish whoever He wishes and to forgive whoever He wishes, His punishing and forgiving will be neither arbitrary nor whimsical. It will rather be founded on absolute knowledge and wisdom. God will forgive those whom He knows not to be responsible for their guilt, and thus not liable to punishment according to His wisdom and justice.
