    قُلۡ أَرَءَيۡتَكُمۡ إِنۡ أَتَىٰكُمۡ عَذَابُ ٱللَّهِ بَغۡتَةً أَوۡ جَهۡرَةً هَلۡ يُهۡلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلۡقَوۡمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ

    Transliteration:( Qul ara'aitakum in ataakum 'azaabul laahi baghtatan aw jahratan hal yuhlaku illal qawmuz zaalimoon )

    47. Say, "Have you considered: if the punishment of Allah should come to you suddenly or openly, will anyone be destroyed except for the unjust people?" [93] (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    (47) Say, "Have you considered: if the punishment of Allāh should come to you unexpectedly or manifestly,[307] will any be destroyed but the wrongdoing people?" (Saheen International Translation)

    93. By tyrant is meant the infidel. The punishment of Allah Almighty comes to destroy the infidels. If animals and some innocent people are destroyed through it, it is no punishment for them but a means of elevating the status of the pious through it, as is reported in Hadith Shareef. It should be remembered that this punishment denotes visible punishment which had come upon the previous people (Ummah). The inherent punishment like an incidental disaster, drought, death, destruction, etc can come due

    There is no commentary by Abul Maududi available for this verse.

    [307]- i.e., before your eyes.
