📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Anbiya – Verse 99

"If these had been gods, they would not have gone to Hell [154], and all shall abide therein [155]."

✅ [154] Exposure of False Deities

There are two reasons for casting the worshipped objects into Hell:

  1. To increase the punishment—e.g., the heat of the sun adding to Hell’s fire.

  2. To expose their helplessness—as mentioned here: “If they were really gods, why are they in Hell?” This shows their falseness and worthlessness.

✅ [155] Eternal Stay for All

This refers to both the deities and their worshippers

  • The worshippers will remain for punishment,

  • While the false gods, like the sun and other inanimate idols, will remain to serve as instruments of that punishment.
