📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Ankabut – Verse 11

"And surely Allah will disclose the believers [23] and will surely disclose the hypocrites."

✅ [23] Divine Revelation and the Knowledge of the Prophet ﷺ

In this verse, the phrase “will disclose” means that Allah will make known the inner state of people—revealing true believers and unmasking hypocrites.

Though Allah is eternally All-Knowing, this verse points to a specific form of worldly disclosure, particularly through five distinct means of communication (e.g., revelation, inspiration, trials, signs, and consequences).

It also confirms that Allah informed the Holy Prophet ﷺ about the true condition of individuals.

Therefore, anyone who claims that the Prophet ﷺ was unaware of who the believers and hypocrites were is either unfamiliar with this verse or is rejecting its clear meaning.

To “make it known” is to reveal it publicly, and such revelation occurred not just in the Hereafter, but in this world through the speech, actions, and guidance of the Prophet ﷺ.

The tafsir of Surah Ankabut verse 11 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Ankabut ayat 10 which provides the complete commentary from verse 10 through 11.

(29:11) Allah will surely ascertain who are the believers and who are the hypocrites.[16]

Ala-Maududi

(29:11) Allah will surely ascertain who are the believers and who are the hypocrites.[16]

16. That is, Allah provides occasions for the trial again and again so that the faith of the believers and the hypocrisy of the hypocrites become manifest, and whatever is hidden in the hearts becomes exposed. The same thing has been said in (Surah Aal-Imran, Ayat 179): “Allah will not leave the believers in the state in which you happen to be at present: He will surely separate the pure from the impure people.”

(11) And Allāh will surely make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the hypocrites.
