    فَلَمَّا كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُمُ ٱلرِّجۡزَ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ هُم بَٰلِغُوهُ إِذَا هُمۡ يَنكُثُونَ

    Transliteration:( Falammaa kashafnaa 'anhumur rijza ilaaa ajalin hum baalighoohu izaa hum yankusoon )

    135. But when We removed the torment [284] from them until a term which they were to reach [285], then they broke their word. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    (135) But when We removed the punishment from them until a term which they were to reach,[398] then at once they broke their word. (Saheen International Translation)

    284. These punishments were terminated through the blessings of Hazrat Musa (On whom be peace). From this, we learn that the prayers of the pious can benefit the infidels as well. Then why will we sinful believers not receive their benefits?

    285. By this, it meant the repulsion of the punishment was of a temporary nature. Allah. Almighty says He is aware that these people would remain infidels and would be destroyed through drowning.

    Ala-Maududi

    (7:135) But when We removed the scourge from them until a term – a term which they were bound to reach – they at once broke their promise.

    There is no commentary by Abul Maududi available for this verse.

    (135) But when We removed the punishment from them until a term which they were to reach,[398] then at once they broke their word.

    [398]- i.e., a specified term which would end with their reversion to disobedience and disbelief.
