📖 Commentary on Surah Al-A‘raaf – Verse 135

But when We removed the torment (284) from them until a term which they were to reach (285), then they broke their word.

✅ Relief Through the Blessings of the Pious (284)

The torment that had gripped Pharaoh’s people was lifted through the du‘a of Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him). This teaches that even disbelievers can benefit from the prayers of the righteous. If such mercy can reach the worst of deniers, then surely sinful but believing Muslims have even more hope in gaining blessings through the intercession and prayers of the pious.

✅ Temporary Relief Before Final Destruction (285)

The verse clarifies that the removal of punishment was only for a fixed time, not a sign of complete pardon. Allah already knew that these people would not remain true to their word and would continue in disbelief. Their ultimate fate was sealed—they would later be destroyed by drowning, fulfilling the prophecy and warning that temporary ease should not be mistaken for divine approval.
