📖 Commentary of Surah Al-A’raaf – Verse 30

"A group He has guided and a group has deserved to be in error [61]. They have taken the devils as allies besides Allah, and they think they are rightly guided [62]."

Not Everyone Is Destined to Believe [61]

This means that not everyone will become a believer. Some will remain infidels because their disbelief is within Divine intent. If Allah’s will is for them to be in error, then how can they ever become believers?

Satan Is the False Guardian Referred to [62]

This verse explains the concept of “guardians besides Allah”. In most such verses, Satan is the one being referred to. There is a clear distinction between the true friends of Allah and those who are allied with others besides Allah. The friends of Allah Almighty are real and truthful, while those besides Him are false. To believe that the friends of Allah are His sons is to wrongly attribute divinity to creation, which is the essence of taking guardians other than Allah.

Ibn-Kathir

Please refer to Surah A’raf ayat 28 which provides the complete commentary from verse 28 through 30.

(7:30) A party He has guided to the Right Way, and for another party straying is justly its due for they have taken satans, rather than Allah, as their guardians, even though they think that they are rightly-guided.
