Quran Quote  :  Example of grains who spend in the path of Allah. Allah multiplies like grain sprouts - 2:261

Quran-7:32 Surah Al-araf English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Qul man harrama zeenat Allahil lateee akhraja li'ibaadihee wattaiyibaati minar rizq; qul hiya lillazeena aamanoo fil hayaatid dunyaa khaalisatany Yawmal Qiyaamah; kazaalika nufassilul Aayaati li qawminy ya'lamoon )

32. Please declare: "Who has prohibited you from wearing the beautiful adornment of Allah which He brought forth for His bondsmen [65] and the pure foods "[66]. Please declare: "That is for the believers (67) in the life of this world and is exclusively for them on the Day of Resurrection" (68). Thus, we fully explain the signs for the people who have knowledge. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(32) Say, "Who has forbidden the adornment of [i.e., from] Allāh which He has produced for His servants and the good [lawful] things of provision?" Say, "They are for those who believed during the life of this world, exclusively [for them] on the Day of Resurrection." Thus do We detail the verses for a people who know. (Saheen International Translation)

Surah Al-Araf Ayat 32 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi
  • Shaheen International

65. From this we learn that a thing which is not declared unlawful by Shariah is lawful. Proof' is required for prohibition, but not for its lawfulness.

66. From this it is understood that piety does not mean that one should give up eating tasty and lawful things. Abstention from unlawful things is true piety. Eat wholesome and lawful things to your heart's delight, but at the same time keep away from the prohibited things.

67. This makes it clear that Allah Almighty has created many good things for the benefit of the believer. The infidels are getting these for the sake of the believers. Thus, if anyone says that poverty and saintliness lie in abstention from good food, good clothes, etc. he is a liar. In contrast, one should eat good food, wear good clothes and do good deeds. Says Allah Almighty: "Eat pure things and do good deeds." (S23:V51)

68. This means that although the infidels are enjoying good things in this world for the sake of the believers, in the Hereafter they will not receive anything

Ibn-Kathir

32. Say: “Who has forbidden the adornment with clothes given by Allah, which He has produced for His servants, and At-Tayyibat (good things) of sustenance” Say: “They are, in the life of this world, for those who believe, (and) exclusively for them (believers) on the Day of Resurrection.” Thus We explain the Ayat in detail for people who have knowledge.

Allah refutes those who prohibit any type of food, drink or clothesaccording to their own understanding, without relying on whatAllah has legislated,

﴿قُلْ﴾

(Say) O Muhammad, to the idolators who prohibit some things out of false opinion and fabrication,

﴿مَنْ حَرَّمَ زِينَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِى أَخْرَجَ لِعِبَادِهِ﴾

(Who has forbidden the adornment with clothes given by Allah, which He has produced for His servants) meaning, these things were created for those who believe in Allah and worship Him in this life, even though the disbelievers share in these bounties in this life. In the Hereafter, the believers will have all this to themselves and none of the disbelievers will have a share in it, for Paradise is prohibited for the disbelievers.

(7:32) Say (O Muhammad): ‘Who has forbidden the adornment which Allah has brought forth for His creatures or the good things from among the means of sustenance?’[22] Say: ‘These are for the enjoyment of the believers in this world, and shall be exclusively theirs on the Day of Resurrection.’[23] Thus do We clearly expound Our revelations for those who have knowledge.

Ala-Maududi

22. Since it is God Himself Who has created all good and pure things for man, it obviously could not have been His intent to make them unlawful. Now, if there is any religion, or any ethical or social system which forbids those things, or considers them an insurmountable barrier to man’s spiritual growth, it has an intellectual orientation which itself is evident proof of its not having been prescribed by God.

This is an important argument which the Qur’an advances in refutation of false creeds. An appreciation of this argument would help one understand the Qur’anic line of argumentation as such.

23. All the clean and beautiful things created by God are meant, in principle, for the believers even in this world, for they are God’s faithful subjects, and it is fidelity to God that makes one deserve enjoyment of the things which are God’s. However, all men are under a test in this world. Hence even those who are disloyal to God have been granted respite to mend their ways and are, therefore, not denied His worldly bounties. In fact with a view to testing those disloyal to God these bounties are at times lavished upon them even more abundantly than on God’s faithful servants. But the character of the Next Life will be totally different. For one’s station there will be determined entirely by one’s righteousness and justice. God’s bounties in the Next Life, therefore, will be for the faithful alone. As for the unfaithful, those who were disloyal to God even though every fibre of their being was nourished by the sustenance provided by Him, they will have no share whatsoever of those bounties in the Next Life.
