Transliteration:( Wallazeena kazzaboo bi Aayaatinaa wastakbaroo 'an haaa ulaaa'ika Ashaabun naari hum feehaa khaalidoon )
"And those who have denied Our signs and were arrogant towards them [77], they are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein forever."
It should be remembered that showing pride against the disbelievers is considered an act of worship, but showing pride against the Holy Prophet ﷺ is infidelity. In this verse, a third type of arrogance is being mentioned—the arrogance shown by Satan, whose consequences are well known. Hence, those who display such arrogance are declared as inhabitants of Hell, where they will remain forever. Both denial of the signs and arrogance are specific traits of the disbelievers, and their eternal punishment is thus confirmed.
The tafsir of Surah Al-A’raf verse 36 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah A’raf ayat 34 which provides the complete commentary from verse 34 through 36.
(7:36) And those who reject Our revelations as false and turn away from them in arrogance, they shall be the inmates of Hell; and there shall they abide.[28]
28. Reference to the continuous unremitting punishment of the unbelievers occurs invariably on occasions where the Qur’an narrates the coming down of Adam and Eve from Paradise. See (Surah Al-Baqarah, ayat 38-39); (Surah TaHa, 123-124) What has been said here should be considered in relation to the fact that at the very start of man’s earthly life he was informed of the evil results of unbelief. See Towards (Surah Al-Imran, ayat 81) note 69.
