"The boastful ones said: 'In that which you believe, we surely disbelieve.'" [189]
Here, the arrogant disbelievers respond with complete denial of the faith declared by the believers. While the believers express humble and inclusive faith by saying “we believe in what has been revealed to him”, the disbelievers proudly counter with a blunt rejection of everything the believers accept.
This verse subtly points out a contrast in approach:
The believer’s faith is sincere, based on divine revelation and rooted in the teachings of Prophets.
The disbeliever’s rejection, though also stated collectively, is invalid and rejected by Allah, because it stems from arrogance, denial, and rebellion.
This highlights that faith must follow the path of the general Muslim Ummah—based on divine guidance, not pride or emotion. Collective disbelief holds no weight if it is against truth and revelation.
