Transliteration:( Wa Huwal lazee kaffa aydiyahum 'ankum wa aydiyakum 'anhum bibatni Makkata mim ba'di an azfarakum 'alaihim; wa kaanal laahu bimaa ta'maloona Baseera )
"And it is He who restrained their hands from you and restrained your hands from them in the valley of Makkah [67], after He had given you victory over them. And Allah sees the deeds of yours. [68]"
This refers to how Allah placed fear and awe in the hearts of the Makkans, so they could not resist the Prophet ﷺ during the Conquest of Makkah. The Muslims achieved a peaceful victory without shedding blood. Alternatively, this also alludes to the Treaty of Hudaibiyyah, when Allah prevented conflict between the believers and the disbelievers.
An example is when eighty armed men from Makkah descended from Mount Taneem to ambush the Muslims, but were captured and later forgiven by the Prophet ﷺ after they repented. This incident reflects Allah's divine restraint, ensuring peace prevailed at that crucial time.
This affirms that Allah approved of the Prophet’s strategic decisions, including the treaty and the conquest, both of which were guided by divine wisdom. The restraint, forgiveness, and foresight shown by the Prophet ﷺ were in full alignment with Allah’s will, and are praised as noble and worthy deeds in His sight.
