📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Furqan – Verse 29

"Indeed, he led me astray from the admonition after it had come to me. And Satan leaves man in despair [55]."

✅ [55] Misguidance After Receiving the Truth

The wrongdoer admits that his companion led him astray from the divine reminder after it had clearly reached him. This reveals the seriousness of ignoring truth due to bad influence, even after guidance is made clear.

Such people fall into Satan’s trap, who, after leading them away, abandons them in misery and hopelessness. This is Satan’s nature—to mislead and then desert, leaving man in utter loss and despair.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Furqan verse 29 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Furqan ayat 25 which provides the complete commentary from verse 25 through 29.

(25:29) He led me astray from the Admonition that had come to me. Satan proved to be a great betrayer of man.”[40]

Ala-Maududi

(25:29) He led me astray from the Admonition that had come to me. Satan proved to be a great betrayer of man.”[40]

40. Satan has proved very treacherous to man. It may also be a part of the disbelievers’ lament, or it may be a remark by Allah, in which case the meaning will be: And Satan is indeed the one who always deceives man.

(29) He led me away from the remembrance[1020] after it had come to me. And ever is Satan, to man, a deserter."[1021]

[1020]- i.e., the Qur’ān or the remembrance of Allāh. [1021]- Forsaking him once he has led him into evil.
