Quran Quote  :

Quran-25:44 Surah Al-furqan English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Am tahsabu anna aksarahum yasma'oona aw ya'qiloon; in hum illaa kal an'aami bal hum adallu sabeelaa (section 4) )

44. Or do you think that most of them hear and understand? (80). They are not but like cattle, nay, but they are the worst astray from the path (81). (Kanzul Imaan)

(44) Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are not except like livestock.[1027] Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way. (Saheen International)

Surah Al-Furqan Ayat 44 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Ala-Madudi
  • Shaheen International

80. Not at all. This verse is the commentary of the following verse: "Nor you make the deaf to hear the call" (S30 V52). This tells us that in these verses the blind, the deaf, and the dead denote the infidels whose hearts are dead and the eyes and ears are blind and deaf, unable to see and hear the Truth.

81. From this verse is understood any intelligence which is unable to recognize Allah Almighty and His Messenger is stupidity because they are the true objectives of life.
We further learn that their recognition is not achieved merely from one's intelligence, but it is truly achieved through the bounty of Allah Almighty. Observe, the stones and dry wood recognized the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) but those who failed to believe in him were people like Abu Jahl.

They became worse than the animals because the animals recite the glory of Allah Almighty, they obey and recognize the masters who feed them, they understand things that are beneficial and harmful, and they recognize their home. But the infidels fail to understand any of these.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Furqan verse 44 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Furqan ayat 41 which provides the complete commentary from verse 41 through 44.

(25:44) Do you think that most of them hear or understand? For they are merely like cattle; nay, even worse than them.[57]

Ala-Maududi

(25:44) Do you think that most of them hear or understand? For they are merely like cattle; nay, even worse than them.[57]

57. They are only like the cattle because they follow their lusts blindly. Just as the sheep and cattle do not know where their driver is taking them, to the meadow or to the slaughter house, so are these people also following their leaders blindly without knowing or judging where they are being led, to success or to destruction. The only difference between the two is that the cattle have no intelligence and will not be accountable as to the place where they are being taken by the driver. But it is a pity that human beings who are endowed with reason, should behave like cattle; therefore their condition is worse than that of cattle.

Incidentally it should be noted that this passage (Surah Al-Furqan, ayat 43-44) is not meant to dissuade the Prophet (peace be upon him) from conveying the message to such people, but it is an indirect warning to the disbelievers of the consequences if they continued to behave like cattle.

(44) Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are not except like livestock.[1027] Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way.

[1027]- i.e., cattle or sheep, that follow without question wherever they are led.
