    📖 Tafseer (Commentary) of Surah Al-Ghashiyah (88:22)

    🔹 But you are not a superintendent to compel them.

    This verse clarifies that the duty of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is only to convey the message, not to force people into accepting Islam.

    1️⃣ The Role of the Prophet ﷺ

    ✅ The Prophet ﷺ is a Guide, Not an Enforcer:

    • His role is to show the right path and invite people with wisdom and kindness.
    • Acceptance of Islam is a personal choice; faith cannot be imposed by force.

    ✅ Faith is a Matter of Free Will:

    • اللَّهُ has given humans intellect and free will to choose between guidance and misguidance.
    • If someone rejects Islam, it does not diminish the status or mission of the Prophet ﷺ.

    ✅ A Lesson in Propagation (Dawah):

    • The Prophet ﷺ is the best example of how to invite people with patience, wisdom, and mercy.
    • No one should use force or compulsion in calling others to Islam.

    2️⃣ The Example of the Sun and Clouds

    🌞 The Prophet ﷺ is like the Sun:

    • The sun spreads light, but if someone closes their eyes, the sun remains unaffected.
    • Similarly, if someone rejects the Prophet’s ﷺ message, it does not lessen his light.

    ☁️ The Prophet ﷺ is like the Clouds:

    • The clouds give rain, but if someone does not collect water, it is their loss.
    • The Prophet’s ﷺ message is mercy, but those who reject it are only harming themselves.

    8. That is, if a person does not listen to reason, he may not. You have not been appointed to force the will of the deniers: your only task is to distinguish the right from the wrong for the people and warn them of the consequences of following the wrong way; so this is the task you should continue to perform.
