Surah Al-Hajj Ayat 14 Tafsir (Commentry)

33. It should be remembered that Faith is the cause of entry into Paradise, while good deeds are the means of obtaining its bounties and high status. The mention here is made of acquiring Paradise i.e. Paradise acquired through one's effort of faith and good deeds. because conferred Paradise would be awarded to the minor Muslim children and, we, sinner through some good deeds.

Ibn-Kathir

14. Truly, Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous good deeds to Gardens underneath which rivers flow. Verily, Allah does what He wills.

The Reward of the Righteous

The mention of the misguided who are doomed is followed by mention of the righteous who are blessed. They are those who believe firmly in their hearts and confirm their faith by their actions, doing all kinds of righteous deeds and avoiding evil actions. Because of this, they will inherit dwellings in the lofty ranks of the gardens of Paradise. So Allah tells us that He sends those astray and guides these, and says:

﴿إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يُرِيدُ﴾

(Verily, Allah does what He wills.)

(22:14) (In contrast) Allah will assuredly cause those who believe and act righteously[20] to enter Gardens beneath which rivers flow. For, most certainly, Allah does whatever He pleases.[21]

Ala-Maududi

(22:14) (In contrast) Allah will assuredly cause those who believe and act righteously[20] to enter Gardens beneath which rivers flow. For, most certainly, Allah does whatever He pleases.[21]

20. “Those who believed and did righteous deeds” are quite different from the wavering Muslims, for they have a firm belief in Allah, His Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Hereafter. Therefore they follow the way of truth both in prosperity and in adversity.

21. That is, Allah’s powers are unlimited. He may bestow anything on anyone He wills in this world or in the Hereafter or in both, and bar anything from anyone. None has the power to interfere with what He wills and does.

(14) Indeed, Allāh will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow. Indeed, Allāh does what He intends.
