📖 Commentary of Verse 24 (Surah Al-Qari'ah)

"Eat and drink pleasantly [27], for what you did beforehand [28], in the days gone by."

✅ [27] Pleasant Rewards in Paradise

This verse describes the reward awaiting the righteous in Paradisepleasant food and drink that will not cause any discomfort or indigestion. Unlike the worldly food and drink, which may lead to hardship, disease, or complications, the pleasures of Paradise will be free from all such problems. Everything will be perfectly enjoyable and provided according to divine justice, without any hardship or unlawfulness in accordance with Islamic law. It is a reward for the good deeds done in this world, not because of anyone else's efforts, but a direct result of one's own actions.

✅ [28] The Reward for Good Deeds

The verse emphasizes that the rewards in Paradise are the result of one's own good deeds. For pious believers, the eternal pleasure of Paradise is a direct reward for the righteous actions they performed in their earthly life. However, for minor deceased children of believers and sinners, their reward in Paradise comes as a result of the good deeds of their parents or other righteous individuals. This shows that good deeds in this world have eternal value, and both the grave and Hereafter are not places for new actions, but rather for receiving the results of one's previous deeds.
