Surah Al-Haqqah Ayat 41 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi
  • Shaheen International

47. Because neither is the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) a poet, nor has any poet sent him this Book. This is the refutation of this idle talk of the infidels who said that the Holy Prophet is a poet and that the Holy Qur'aan is poetry. It should be remembered that they were used to poetry and cheap novels i.e. false and decorated literature, which was empty of metre and rhyme, because the Holy Qur'aan is not metrical.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah Al-Haqqah verse 41 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Haqqah ayat 38 which provides the complete commentary from verse 38 through 43.

(69:41) not the speech of a poet. Little do you believe![23]

Ala-Maududi

(69:41) not the speech of a poet. Little do you believe![23]

23. One meaning of “little it is that you believe”, according to Arabic idiom, can be: You do not believe it at all. Another meaning also can be: Hearing the Quran your heart sometimes itself cries out: This cannot be mortal word. Yet you behave stubbornly and refuse to believe in it.

(41) And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.
