294. This promise of Allah is indeed genuine and sincere. It is insincere and undeserving people like us who failed to comply with these conditions and thus became humiliated. From this, we learn that every Companion of the Holy Prophet, especially the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs (peace be upon them), were true and sincere believers, for Allah’s promise of their exaltation and eminence was based on their faith. Because they fulfilled this condition, Allah bestowed upon them honor, Caliphate, governance, and more.
