Surah Al Imran Ayat 5 Tafsir (Commentry)

6. A godly quality of having full knowledge about everything between the heavens and earth without anyone's instruction or knowledge is not possessed by any earthling. But this does not mean that Allah Almighty Himself has not bestowed knowledge of the unseen. Regarding Hazrat Ebrahim (On whom be peace) The QUR'AAN says. "And thus We showed to Ebrahim all kingdoms..."(S6. V75). The Holy Prophet ?says "And Allah Almighty has given me the vision of everything which I fully recognize." It is for this reason that everything has been scribed on the Divine Tablet (LOHE MAHFOOZ) so it becomes a means of obtaining the knowledge of the unseen to His chosen servants, whose vision encompasses the Divine Tablet. Allah Almighty indeed is the Alive, the All-Seeing and the All-Hearing, but humans too possess these qualities, the difference being with Allah Almighty these qualities are absolute while ours are a limited acquisition of these.

Ibn-Kathir

5. Truly, nothing is hidden from Allah, in the earth or in the heaven. 6. He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He wills. None has the right to be worshipped but He, the Almighty, the All-Wise.

Allah states that He has perfect knowledge in the heavens and earth and that nothing in them is hidden from His watch.

﴿هُوَ الَّذِي يُصَوِّرُكُمْ فِي الاٌّرْحَامِ كَيْفَ يَشَآءُ﴾

(He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He wills.) meaning, He creates you in the wombs as He wills, whether male or female, handsome or otherwise, happy or miserable.

﴿لاَ إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ﴾

(La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Almighty, the All-Wise.) meaning, He is the Creator and thus is the only deity worthy of worship, without partners, and His is the perfect might, wisdom and decision. This Ayah refers to the fact that `Isa, son of Mary, is a created servant, just as Allah created the rest of mankind. Allah created `Isa in the womb (of his mother) and shaped him as He willed. Therefore, how could `Isa be divine, as the Christians, may Allah’s curses descend on them, claim `Isa was created in the womb and his creation changed from stage to stage, just as Allah said,

﴿يَخْلُقُكُمْ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـتِكُـمْ خَلْقاً مِّن بَعْدِ خَلْقٍ فِى ظُلُمَـتٍ ثَلَـثٍ﴾

(He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, creation after creation in three veils of darkness.) ﴿39:6﴾.

(3:5) Nothing in the earth and in the heavens is hidden from Allah.[3]

Ala-Maududi

(3:5) Nothing in the earth and in the heavens is hidden from Allah.[3]

3. That is, God knows all the facts of the universe. Hence the Book which He has revealed is, of necessity, true. It may be more appropriate to say that the unadulterated Truth can be made available to man only through this Book, which has been revealed by the All-Knowing, All-Wise God.

(5) Indeed, from Allāh nothing is hidden in the earth nor in the heaven.
