14. The Absolute Authority of Allah on the Day of Judgment – Commentary (Tafseer) of the Verse 82:19

"(It is) a Day when nobody shall have power to help anybody. And the entire command on that day shall belong to Allah."

No One Will Have Power to Help Another

  1. No Infidel Will Be Able to Intercede – This verse clarifies that no disbeliever will have the power to intercede for anyone (Tafseer Khazain).

  2. Believers Cannot Help DisbelieversNo believer will be able to assist a disbeliever or fulfill their needs on that day. However, this does not negate intercession altogether. Intercession will happen, but only by Allah’s Permission.

  3. Prophets as Intercessors, Not Commanders – The authority of command belongs only to Allah Almighty. The Prophets and Messengers will serve as intercessors in the Divine Court, just as attorneys and witnesses present cases but do not decide the verdict.

15.The Absolute Command of Allah

  1. No Authority Except Allah on That Day – In this world, some people may have authority metaphorically, whether outwardly (governments, rulers) or inwardly (spiritual leaders). But on the Day of Judgment, no one—metaphorically or otherwise—will have any authority besides Allah Almighty.

  2. A Warning to Do Good Deeds – Since all power will belong solely to Allah, this verse serves as a reminder to prepare for that day by doing righteous deeds and seeking His mercy.

Ala-Maududi

(82:19) It is the Day when no one shall have the power to do anything for another,[8] and all command shall be Allah’s.

8. That is, no one there will have the power to save anyone from suffering the consequences of his deeds; no one there will be so influential, strong, or such a favorite with Allah that he should behave stubbornly in the divine court and say: Such and such a one is a close relative or associate of mine; he will have to be forgiven, no matter what evils He might have committed in the world.

(19) It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allāh.
