Transliteration:( Inna haaa'ulaa'i yuhibboona 'aajilata wa yazaroona waraaa'ahum yawman saqeelaa )
"Certainly [41], they love this transitory life and neglect a heavy day [42]."
✅ [41] Love for the World
This verse reflects on the attachment to worldly pleasures. The love for the world is not inherently bad; rather, it becomes problematic when it leads to neglecting religious duties.
The worldly attachment becomes harmful if it causes one to abandon the path of righteousness, which is the common trait of disbelievers.
However, if one uses the world's resources to serve the religion, as exemplified by figures like Hazrat Uthman and the children of the Prophets, then the love for the world can become beneficial in the sight of Allah.
✅ [42] Neglecting the Heavy Day (The Day of Judgment)
The "heavy day" refers to the Day of Judgment, which will be a day of great burden and accountability for the disbelievers, who have neglected their duties toward Allah.
For the disbelievers, the Day of Judgment will be severe, as they will be held accountable for their neglect of faith and actions.
The verse emphasizes the importance of mindfulness toward the Day of Judgment, urging believers to not fall into the trap of being consumed by temporary worldly pleasures.
The tafsir of Surah Al-Insan verse 27 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Insan ayat 23 which provides the complete commentary from verse 23 through 31.
(76:27) Verily they love (the good of this world) that is hastily obtainable and are oblivious of the burdensome Day ahead of them.[31]
31. That is, the reason why the disbelieving Quraish still persist in the errors and deviations of belief and morality and why they turn a deaf ear to your invitation to the truth is, in fact, their worship of the world and their heedlessness of the Hereafter. Therefore, the way being followed by a true God-worshipper is so different from and opposed to their way that there can be no question of any compromise between them.
[1814]- i.e., neglect. The meaning may also be "leave ahead of them."
