Transliteration:( Qaala ara'aytaka haazal lazee karramta 'alaiya la'in akhartani ilaa Yawmil Qiyaamati la ahtanikanna zurriyyatahooo illaa qaleelaa )
"He said, 'Do you see this one whom You have honored [136] above me? If You grant me respite until the Day of Judgment, I will certainly mislead his descendants, except for a few [138].'"
Iblis objected: “You want me to prostrate while honoring Adam”—despite the fact that he considered himself a worshipper and Sufi of thousands of years, while Hazrat Adam (عليه السلام) had not yet begun worship.
This complaint reflects the arrogant logic of Iblis, valuing his quantity of worship over the divine wisdom behind Adam’s creation and honor.
Iblis mentioned the descendants of Adam, knowing that Adam himself is a Prophet, and Iblis had no authority to mislead any Prophet or the special saints (awliya) among his progeny.
For this reason, he specified: "except for a few."
This shows that the devil seeks revenge against the children of Adam because of his own rejection. Hence, we must always remain vigilant and never become heedless of his schemes.
This verse highlights a powerful point: even the devil did not lie in the presence of Allah Almighty. He stated his intentions clearly and openly.
Thus, anyone who lies in the presence of Allah—whether in prayer, supplication, or belief—is worse than the devil.

(17:62) He then continued: “Look! This is he whom You have exalted above me! If you will grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection I shall uproot the whole of his progeny[75] except only a few.”
75. That is, I will uproot them from the high position of divine vicegerency which demands steadfastness in obedience. Their removal from that high position is just like the tearing of a tree from its roots.
[760]- By tempting them and leading them astray.
