Tafsir (Commentary) of the Verse: "And Soon He Will Be Well-Pleased with Him" (21)

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse speaks about the future divine pleasure of Allah towards Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA). It conveys that very soon, Allah Almighty will express His immense pleasure and satisfaction with Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA), which will be manifested before the creation. This verse does not imply that Allah is displeased with Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) at any point in time, but instead points to the ultimate reward and proximity he will receive in the Hereafter, including being close to Allah’s Beloved, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, in Paradise.

Key Issues Arising from the Verse:

1. Allah’s Eternal Pleasure for Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA):

The verse confirms that Allah is not displeased with Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA) at any time. Rather, the verse indicates that Allah will soon reveal His pleasure, making it evident to all of creation. Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) enjoys a high status, with Allah’s satisfaction being displayed in his life and beyond. This implies a special honor for Hazrat Abu Bakr, as his status will continue to elevate on the Day of Judgment and into Paradise, where he will be close to the Prophet ﷺ and rewarded abundantly.

2. Allah's Infinite Bounty and Hazrat Abu Bakr's (RA) Future Contentment:

Another interpretation suggests that this verse means Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA) will soon be blessed with so many divine bounties that he will be completely pleased with his Lord. This does not suggest any dissatisfaction in the present, as Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) has always been pleased with Allah’s decrees. The verse assures that Allah’s blessings will overflow upon him, leading to his total contentment in the Hereafter. This notion echoes Allah’s words in Surah Ash-Sharh (93:5) regarding the abundant blessings He will grant to His beloved servants, like Hazrat Abu Bakr.

3. Parallel to the Divine Promise to the Prophet ﷺ:

The verse also draws a parallel to Allah's promise to the Prophet ﷺ in Surah Adh-Dhuha (93:5), where Allah assures that the Prophet will be granted more blessings. Similarly, the verse for Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA) in Surah Al-Layl (92:21) promises that Allah will soon make him extremely pleased with His blessings. Both these divine promises emphasize that Allah’s Beloveds, including Hazrat Abu Bakr, will experience unparalleled divine pleasure and closeness to Allah in the Hereafter, a reward that surpasses any worldly pleasure.
