Transliteration:( 'Alaihaa tis'ata 'ashar )
“Over it are nineteen guards.”
✅ The nineteen guards of Hellfire[21]
This verse mentions that Hellfire is guarded by nineteen angels, who are tasked with overseeing the torment and punishment. These angels are not ordinary; their abilities are extraordinary. They have the power to see with the speed and precision of lightning.
✅ The number of guards is symbolic
The number nineteen corresponds to the hours between the day and night, minus the five hours dedicated to the Five Daily Salaahs. The remaining nineteen hours signify the hours in which the angels will be carrying out the punishment of the inmates of Hell.
✅ The role of the angels
Each of these nineteen angels will oversee the punishment for a separate hour, ensuring that the torment never ceases. Their presence serves as a reminder of the severity and eternity of the punishment for the disbelievers.
