Quran Quote  :  until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. - 23:64

Quran-60:2 Surah Al-mumtahanah English Translation,Transliteration and Tafsir(Tafseer).

Transliteration:( Iny yasqafookum yakoonoo lakum a'daaa'anw wa yabsutooo ilaikum aydiyahum wa alsinatahum bissooo'i wa waddoo law takfuroon )

2. If they get the upper hand on you, they will become your enemies [9], and will stretch out their hands to you and their evil tongues with ardent desire that you become infidels [10]. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(2) If they gain dominance over you, they would be [i.e., behave] to you as enemies and extend against you their hands and their tongues with evil, and they wish you would disbelieve. (Saheen International Translation)

Surah Al-Mumtahanah Ayat 2 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi
  • Shaheen International

9. In it there is a censure of blessings on azrat Hatim. It should be remembered to maintain religious love with the infidel is fidelity, but love on the basis of nationality is heresy, and personal love is sin. The word gone astray" includes all of these. However, having an involuntary inclination towards the fidel children is not an inner sin. The saying f Hazrat Nuh (On whom be peace) regarding afanaan that "my son is from my family" is from his fourth type. Thus, there can be no objection levelled against Hazrat Nuh.

10. This means the enmity of the infidels is of such a nature that no matter how many such types of good behaviour or treatment you may show them, the moment they get opportunity, they will leave no stone unturned to intensify their enmity. He is like the cobra that receives nourishment through the master's milk, yet it will not hesitate to inflict poison in him.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah As-Saff verse 2 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Saff ayat 1 which provides the complete commentary from verse 1 through 4.

(60:2) If they could overcome you, they would act as your foes and would hurt you by their hands and tongues, and would love to see you become unbelievers.[2]

Ala-Maududi

(60:2) If they could overcome you, they would act as your foes and would hurt you by their hands and tongues, and would love to see you become unbelievers.[2]

2. Although what has been said up to here, and what follows in this regard, was revealed in connection with the incident relating to Hatib, Allah, instead of dwelling on his case only, has given the believers this lesson forever. It is contrary to the profession of the faith that a person should act, out of any motive or reason, in a way detrimental to the interests of Islam and subservient to the interests of disbelief when a conflict is going on between Islam and disbelief and some people have adopted a hostile attitude towards the Muslims only because they are Muslims. Even if a person be wholly free from any ill-will against Islam and acts thus not with an evil intention but for the sake of a dire personal need, the act anyhow is unbecoming of a believer, and whoever acts thus strays from the right way.

(2) If they gain dominance over you, they would be [i.e., behave] to you as enemies and extend against you their hands and their tongues with evil, and they wish you would disbelieve.
