Witnesses of Illiyeen – Commentary (Tafseer) of the Verse 83:21
"Which the chosen ones will witness."
The Presence of the Chosen Ones
This verse describes how Illiyeen is not only a lofty place but also a witnessed record, observed by honored beings.
- The word "Yash-hadu" (He sees) can come from Shuhood (omnipresence) or Mushahadah (to see).
- Angels are always present at Illiyeen for protection or worship, showing the importance of sacred places.
- On the Day of Judgment, angels will stand there with great respect in the Divine Court.
- Chosen servants of Allah will also see and recognize those recorded in Illiyeen, knowing the status of each believer.
Who are the Chosen Ones?
- The chosen angels who constantly worship Allah.
- The chosen righteous people who attain closeness to Allah and have knowledge of the inhabitants of Paradise and Hell.
- Some pious souls reside in Illiyeen, others in Zamzam, and some between the heavens and the earth, as mentioned in Tafseer Azizi.
This verse highlights the great honor of those whose records are in Illiyeen, a place recognized and witnessed by the most honored beings.
