Transliteration:( Fajtabaahu rabbuhoo faja'alahoo minas saaliheen )
"Then his Lord chose him, and placed him among the righteous."
This verse emphasizes how Allah chose Prophet Yunus (PBUH) and elevated him to the rank of the righteous after his period of trial in the belly of the fish. Even though Yunus (PBUH) had momentarily departed from his people in haste, Allah's mercy did not abandon him. Instead, it purified him and made him among the righteous.
The Prophethood of Yunus (PBUH) remained intact throughout his trial. His time in the fish was not a period of loss of status but a merciful test that led to his spiritual elevation. The belly of the fish, often viewed as a dark and grim place, became a place of spiritual refinement and mercy, more virtuous than the Divine Throne in the sight of Allah.
Maulana Rumi beautifully expresses that despite being in the belly of the fish, Yunus (PBUH)’s status became lofty. This highlights that Allah's mercy often works through unexpected means, and even in difficult trials, there are profound spiritual blessings and growth. The censures and trials faced by the Prophets are not punishments but pathways to deeper blessings.
