📖 Commentary of Surah Al-Qasas – Verse 31

And throw down your staff." But when Musa saw it wriggling as if it were a snake, [86] he turned in flight and did not look back. [87] "O Musa, come forward and do not fear. Indeed, you are of those who are secure." [88] (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

✅ [86] The Nature of the Staff’s Transformation

In physique it was as huge as a python, but in speed and writhing movement, it was like a thin snake. For this reason it was perhaps called a snake. Otherwise, the walking stick had in reality turned into a snake; it was not an optical illusion. Thus, there is no inconsistency in the verse.

✅ [87] Musa’s Fear and Its Basis

Out of fear for the snake. This fear was on the basis of harm and disposition. This verse is not contradicting verse sixty-two of Surah Yunus (10).

✅ [88] Assurance of Security

Here as well as in the presence of the Pharaoh, at the time of death as well as on the Day of Judgement. In short, this sentence is appropriate for this world and the Hereafter because it is an expression for all times.
