Transliteration:( Waltaffatis saaqu bissaaq )
29. This means that after death, the feet will be wrapped up in the shroud. Or, at the time of death, there will be severity followed by more severity of the agonies of death and of permanent departure from the home and property.
It should be remembered that some sincere devotees at the time of death are granted the beauteous vision of the Holy Prophet ? due to which the dying person does not feel the agonies of death.
An example of this is the Egyptian ladies who did not feel the pain on cutting their fingers upon seeing the handsome face of Hazrat Yusuf (On whom be peace). Or, the present day procedure of administering anaesthetic to the patient undergoing an operation, so that he does not feel the pain of the surgery. Thus, there is no inconsistency in the verses and the Ahadith.

20. Some commentators have taken the word saq (leg, shank) in its literal meaning, thereby implying that at death one lean leg will join the other lean leg; some others have taken it metaphorically in the sense of difficulty, vehemence and hardship so as to mean: At that time one affliction will be joined with another affliction, one of being separated from the world and all its enjoyments, and the other of being seized and taken to the Hereafter as a culprit, and this will be experienced by every disbeliever, hypocrite and sinner.
[1807]- From the difficulties the person faces at death or his sudden awareness of the realities of both this world and the Hereafter. It may also refer to his shrouding after death.
