    ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ ٱسۡتَحَبُّواْ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا عَلَى ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

    Transliteration:( Zaalika bi annahumus tahabbul hayaatad dunyaa 'alal Aakhirati wa annal laaha laa yahdil qawmal kaafireen )

    107. That is because they preferred the life of this world over the Hereafter [242], and because Allah does not guide the disbelieving people [243]. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    (107) That is because they preferred the worldly life over the Hereafter and that Allāh does not guide the disbelieving people. (Saheen International Translation)

    📖 Commentary of Surah An-Nahl – Verse 107

    107. That is because they preferred the life of this world over the Hereafter [242], and because Allah does not guide the disbelieving people [243].

    ✅ Worldly Preference Over Eternal Success

    [242] It should be remembered that regarding the worldly life as beneficial for the Hereafter is the way of the believer, because he utilises this life to accumulate virtuous deeds for the Hereafter.
    Whereas, regarding this life as superior to the Hereafter is the attitude of the infidels.

    Hazrat Ammar uttered words of disbelief only under extreme compulsion, motivated by his desire to prolong his companionship with the Holy Prophet ﷺ.

    ✅ Divine Guidance and Disbelief

    [243] Thus, until a person remains an infidel, he does not receive guidance to perform righteous deeds.
    The one whose death upon disbelief is already within Divine Knowledge will not be guided to accept faith.
    Also, whoever dies as an infidel will be deprived of divine guidance to answer the questions of the grave and on the Day of Judgement.
    Hence, there is no contradiction in this verse. Millions have accepted Islam before dying, which does not contradict this statement, as it addresses those who persist in disbelief until death.

    Ibn-Kathir

    Ala-Maududi

    There is no commentary by Abul Maududi available for this verse.
