    Transliteration:( Wa waqa'al qawlu 'alaihim bimaa zalamoo fahum laa yantiqoon )

    85. And the word has already fallen upon them because of their wrongs, so now they speak nothing [156]. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    (85) And the decree will befall them[1088] for the wrong they did, and they will not [be able to] speak. (Saheen International Translation)

    156. This tells us that there will come a time on the infidels on the Day of Judgement when they would not be able to talk, while at other times they would be able to talk. Thus, there is no inconsistency in the verses.

    Ala-Maududi

    (27:85) And the Word will come to pass against them because of their wrong-doing: they will then be able to utter nothing.

    There is no commentary by Abul Maududi available for this verse.

    (85) And the decree will befall them[1088] for the wrong they did, and they will not [be able to] speak.

    [1088]- Allāh's decree will come into effect upon them, and His promise will be fulfilled.
