    Transliteration:( Yas'aloonaka 'anis saa'ati ayyaana mursaahaa )

    42.They ask you about the Hour, when it is to come [19]? (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

    (42) They ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?[1848] (Saheen International Translation)

    19. Reason for its Revelation: The infidels of Makkah would out of sheer jest and amusement ask about the Day of Judgement, its date, etc. This verse was revealed regarding them from which the Holy was stopped from Prophet revealing it to them. Otherwise, the Holy has provided Prophet ? the believers with full information about its day, date and month i.e. it would take place on Friday, 10th of Muharram.

    Ala-Maududi

    (79:42) They ask you about the Hour: “When will it be?”[22]

    22. The disbelievers of Makkah asked this question of the Prophet (peace be upon him) over and over again. By this they did not mean to know the time and date of the coming of Resurrection but to mock it. For further explanation, see (Surah Al-Mulk, ayat 25).

    [1848]- Literally, "resting" or "establishment."
