Surah As-Saffat Ayat 130 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Tafseer-e-Naeemi (Ahmad Yaar Khan)
  • Ibn Kathir
  • Ala-Madudi
  • Shaheen International

133. yaseen is one of the praises of Hazrat Ilyas (On whom he peace), just as Sains and Sincen are names of Mt Sinai. However, Ilyaseen is not the plural of Ilyas Therefore verse 132 states: "Verily, he is among Our most dignified fully believing devotees" wher the personal pronoun 'he' is in the singular.

Ibn-Kathir

The tafsir of Surah As-Saffat verse 130 by Ibn Kathir is unavailable here.
Please refer to Surah Saffat ayat 123 which provides the complete commentary from verse 123 through 132.

(37:130) Peace be upon Elias.[74]

Ala-Maududi

(37:130) Peace be upon Elias.[74]

74. The words in the original are: Salam-un ala El-ya-sin. Some commentators say that El-ya-sin is the other name of the Prophet Elias, just as Abraham is the other name of the Prophet Ibrahim; some others say that different versions of the Hebrew names were prevalent among the Arabs, e.g. one and the same angel was called Michal and Michail and Michain. The same has been the case with the name of the Prophet Elias also. In the Quran itself the same mountain has been called Toor Sina and Toor Sinin.

(130) "Peace upon Elias."[1301]

[1301]- Ilyāseen is said by some commentators to be a plural form, meaning "Elias and those who followed him."
