    📖 Commentary of Surah As-Saffaat – Verse 135

    "Except an old woman [137] who was among those who remained behind."

    ✅ [137] The Fate of Lut’s Wife

    This verse refers to the wife of Hazrat Lut (peace be upon him). Her name was Wāqilah.

    She was not only an infidel, but also a treacherous woman who betrayed her husband and aided the disbelieving nation. Despite being part of a prophet’s household, her disbelief and disloyalty caused her to be left behind and destroyed with the sinful nation.

    Her example is a reminder that faith alone—independent of family ties—determines salvation.

    75. This implies the wife of the Prophet Lot (peace be upon him), who did not migrate with her illustrious husband, but remained behind with her people and was punished.
