159. Some polytheists were saying that Allah Almighty got married among the jinns, from which the angels were bom 1Ahuinul Irfuun). In this verse there is a refutation of this claim of theirs Hy family lineage is meant family or relationship with in-laws, though both these relationships can be with ones own kind and not with an opposite genus kind The relationship of slavehood, propriety and being a bolove which does not require gender, is with the pla servants of Allah Almighty as we are His slav and the Prophet is His Beloved. Every creatio is his worshipper

160. Sent into Hell for eternal punishment. they were relatives of Allah Almighty, then why would they be given punishment?

(37:158) They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels;[89] and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits).

Ala-Maududi

(37:158) They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels;[89] and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits).

89. Though the word used is al-jinnah instead of almalaikah, some major commentators have opined that here the word jinn has been used for malaikah in its literal sense (of hidden creation); malaikah (angels) also are, in reality, a hidden creation, and the following theme also demands that al jinnah here be taken in the sense of al-malaikah.

(158) And they have made [i.e., claimed] between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought [to punishment].
