The Fearlessness of a Prophet

The phrase "there is no fear upon Allah Almighty to take retaliatory measures against them" emphasizes that Allah has complete control over all actions, and there is no fear of retaliation or retribution upon Him. Allah Almighty is the ultimate authority, and He is never constrained or hindered by any external force.

Alternatively, this statement can also be interpreted to mean that Hazrat Saleh (On whom be peace) had no fear of any vengeance because all the infidels who opposed him and his message had already been destroyed. Divine retribution had been executed, and the fate of those who rejected the truth was sealed.

This teaches us an important lesson about the position of Prophets. A Prophet of Allah is free from the fear of creation, as they are fully protected by Allah’s guidance and authority. The fear is not for them, but it is the creation that depends on them for guidance. This reflects the confidence and courage that Prophets possess, knowing that their mission is divinely supported and they need not fear the wrath of any worldly power.

Key Lessons:

  1. Fearlessness of the Prophet: Prophets are divinely protected and do not fear the creations of Allah. Their only concern is to deliver the message faithfully.

  2. Divine Retribution: Allah’s justice is absolute, and when the disbelievers oppose the truth, He has the power to exact vengeance upon them. However, it is the creation that is accountable to Allah, not the Prophet.

  3. Prophets' Dependence on Allah: While the creation depends on the guidance of the Prophet, the Prophet is free from fear and relies solely on Allah for success in their mission.

Ala-Maududi

(91:15) He has no fear of its sequel.[11]

11. That is, Allah is not like the kings of the world and the rulers of governments, who, when they want to take some action against a people, are compelled to consider what will be the consequences of their action. Allah’s power is supreme. He had no apprehension that some supporting power of the Thamud would come out to avenge itself on Him.

(15) And He does not fear the consequence thereof.[1935]

[1935]- Allāh is not asked about what He does, but His servants will be asked. See 21:23.
