📖 Surah Ash-Shu‘ara – Verse 121 – Tafsir

Indeed, in that is a sign, but most of them were not believers [123]." (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

✅ [123] A Sign for Reflection

This verse concludes the account of a past nation’s rejection of their messenger—likely referring to the people of Prophet Hūd عليه السلام. Their destruction is described as a clear sign (āyah) of Allah’s justice and proof of His messengers’ truth.

Yet despite such evident outcomes, “most of them were not believers”—a recurring phrase in this Surah—pointing to the pattern of majority denial despite manifest signs.

This shows that divine signs are not always enough to guide hearts that are already sealed in pride or arrogance. Faith requires not just proof, but also sincerity and humility.
