وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِينٖ

Transliteration:( Wa maa huwa 'alal ghaibi bidaneen )

24. And he (Muhammad) is not a miser (20) as to the disclosing of the unseen. (Kanzul Imaan Translation)

(24) And he [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.[1873] (Saheen International Translation)

Surah At-Takweer Ayat 24 Tafsir (Commentry)

  • Ala-Madudi
  • Shaheen International

20. From it, emerge two issues:

The Holy Prophet ? has been given the knowledge of the Unseen.

The Holy Prophet ? has revealed much from it. It is apparent that being generous can only be the quality of that person who possesses the thing and he continues giving it to people.

By unseen means issues of Shariah (Islamic Laws), which had come from Allah Almighty, the Knower of the unseen. Or, it could mean the unseen affairs of the past and future periods. Or, the information of the unseen world. In the first condition two benefits could be obtained:

1. A scholar of Religion should not conceal issues of Shariah (Islamic Laws).

2. The Holy Prophet did not conceal any religious issue. Those people who raise objections regarding Hadith e Qirtas makes it an obligatory issue that the did not Holy Prophet ? complete his propagation mission. Also, the Holy Prophet stated some issues under pressure of some of his Noble Companions. This type of belief is contrary to this verse as well as the following verse: "O Messenger! Communicate that which has been sent down to you from your Lord' (S5:V67). This would then mean that the religion was not fully conveyed, although Allah Almighty says: "Today I have completed for you your Religion '' (S5:V3). We learn from the second explanation that Allah Almighty had bestowed the knowledge of the unseen upon him and the Holy Prophet informed his Noble Companions about them.

Ala-Maududi

(81:24) nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen;[20]

20. That is, the Messenger (peace be upon him) of Allah does not conceal anything from you. Whatever of the unseen realities are made known to him by Allah, whether they relate to the essence and attributes of Allah, the angels, life-after death and Resurrection, or to the Hereafter, Heaven and Hell, he conveys everything to you without change.

(24) And he [i.e., Muḥammad (ﷺ)] is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.[1873]

[1873]- Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ) did not withhold that knowledge of the unseen which Allāh had revealed to him in the Qur’ān.
