Transliteration:( Wassamaaa'i zaatir raj' )
10. In that the water of the ocean turns into vapor then comes down from the sky as rain. Or the angels go skywards, or the souls and deeds of the people are taken thereto. Or, an oath is taken on the sky of Prophethood, Hazrat Muhammad Mustapha? towards whom the deeds of people and even the people return. It should be remembered just as the sky has encircled the entire earth and is higher than the entire earth; likewise, the Holy Prophet ? is loftier and
superior to the entire creation. Bounties and blessings are constantly received from him. Just as the earth the is always dependent on the sky i.e. without the light of the sun and the rainwater it is unable to grow vegetation, in the same manner, the entire world is dependent that on the Holy Prophet without his blessed gaze no deed is acceptable in the Court of Allah Almighty. Everything and everyone has to return to Him.
11. By the sky which gives rain, again and again. 12. And the earth which splits. 13. Verily, this is the Word that separates. 14. And it is not a thing for amusement. 15. Verily, they are but plotting a plot. 16. And I am planning a plan. 17. So, give a respite to the disbelievers; deal gently with them for a while.
Ibn `Abbas said, “Ar-raj` means rain.” It has also been narrated from him that he said, “It means the clouds that contain rain.” He also said,
(By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again.) “This means that it rains and then it rains (again).” Qatadah said, “It returns the sustenance of the servants (creatures) every year. Were it not for this, they would all be destroyed and so would their cattle.”
(And the earth which splits.) Ibn `Abbas said, “Splitting to bring forth plant growths.” This was also said by Sa`id bin Jubayr, `Ikrimah, Abu Malik, Ad-Dahhak, Al-Hasan, Qatadah, As-Suddi and others. Concerning Allah’s statement,
(Verily, this is the Word that separates.) Ibn `Abbas said (Fasl is), “True.” Qatadah also said the same. Someone else said, “A just ruling.”
(And it is not a thing for amusement.) meaning, rather it is serious and true. Then Allah informs about the disbelievers saying that they reject Him and hinder others from His path. Allah says,
(Verily, they are but plotting a plot.) meaning, they plot against the people in their calling them to oppose the Qur’an. Then Allah says,
(and I, too, am plotting a scheme) meaning, I am plotting such that all disbelievers plots will fail and success will be attained by believers.
(So, give a respite to the disbelievers;) meaning, wait for them and do not be in haste concerning them.
(deal gently with them for a while.) meaning, a little while. This means that you will see what befalls them of torment, punishment and destruction. This is as Allah says,
(We let them enjoy for a little while, then in the end We shall oblige them to (enter) a great torment.) (31:24) This is the end of the Tafsir Surat At-Tariq, and unto Allah is all praise and thanks.
(86:11) By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain,[6]
6. The hidden secrets: the acts of every person which remained a secret to the world as well as those affairs which came before the world only in their apparent form, but the intentions, aims and secret motives working behind them remained hidden from the people. On the Resurrection Day all this will be laid bare and not only will the acts and deeds of every person be examined but it will also be seen what was his motive and intention and object of so acting. Likewise, it also remained hidden from the world, even from the doer of the act himself, what effects and influences of his act appeared in the world, to what extent they spread and for how long they continued to work. This secret will also be revealed on the Resurrection Day and it will be fully examined as to what were the consequences of the seed that a person sowed in the world, what fruit it bore and for how long it affected the later generations for better or for worse.
