Transliteration:( Laakinir Rasoolu wal lazeena aamanoo ma'ahoo jaahadoo bi amwaalihim wa anfusihim; wa ulaaa'ika lahumul khairaatu wa ulaaa'ika humul muflihoon )
“But the Messenger and those who believed [240] with him fought with their wealth and lives. And it is they for whom there are good [241] things, and it is they who are successful.”
This verse highlights that the faith of the Holy Prophet ﷺ is greater in excellence than the faith of anyone else, as it existed even before creation. The association of time and condition here emphasizes that those who believed with the Prophet ﷺ did so with zeal and sincerity, just as the Prophet ﷺ had believed. As Bilqees said, “And I had believed with Hazrat Sulaiman,” it is understood that the Prophet ﷺ represents the true test of faith. Anyone whose faith aligns with his will be regarded as correct, while any faith contrary to his will be considered false.
The good things mentioned here encompass virtues and benefits in this world, the grave, and the Hereafter. From this, it is understood that there is excellence in the wealth and deeds of the Muslim soldier, and such individuals are protected from the accountability and punishment of the grave, the fears and pangs of death, and will gain a high status in the Hereafter. The wealth of Hazrat Zubair ibn Awwam (May Allah be pleased with him) serves as an example. After his martyrdom, his will was settled from just one-third of his wealth, and one-eighth of his estate was distributed among his four wives, each receiving two hundred thousand coins. This demonstrates the immense blessings that come with the wealth and deeds of those who strive in the path of Allah.
88. But the Messenger and those who believed with him strove hard and fought with their wealth and their lives. Such are they for whom are the good things, and it is they who will be successful. 89. For them Allah has prepared Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.
(But the Messenger and those who believed with him strove hard and fought) until the end of these two Ayat ﴿9:88-89﴾. This describes the qualities, as well as, the reward of faithful believers. Allah said,
(Such are they for whom are the good things), in the Hereafter, in the gardens of Al-Firdaws and the high grades.
(9:88) But the Messenger and those who shared his faith strove with their belongings and their lives. It is they who shall have all kinds of good. It is they who shall prosper.
