📖 Commentary of Surah Az-Zukhruf – Verse 7

"And whenever a Prophet came to them, they mocked [8] (at them)."

✅ [8] The Pattern of Rejection by Disbelievers

This verse refers specifically to those Prophets who were sent to disbelieving nations. It highlights a tragic and recurring response: mockery and rejection of divine messengers.

However, not all Prophets are included in this reference. For example, Hazrat Adam and Hazrat Sheeth (peace be upon them) were not sent to disbelievers, as their communities were initially rooted in belief.

The first Prophet to be sent to an openly disbelieving nation was Hazrat Nuh (peace be upon him). He is the first in the line of messengers tasked with delivering the message of truth to those who had already deviated into disbelief and idolatry.

This verse thus serves as both a historical reminder and a moral lesson: rejection of truth is not new, and those who mock the message are repeating the errors of past nations who were eventually seized by divine punishment.

Please refer to Surah Zukhruf ayat 1 which provides the complete commentary from verse 1 through 8.

(43:7) Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him.[5]

Ala-Maududi

(43:7) Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him.[5]

5. That is, if such absurdity and senselessness had barred the sending of a Prophet or a Book, no Prophet would ever have come to any nation nor a Book sent to it.

(7) But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him.
