📖 Commentary of Surah Az-Zukhruf – Verse 77

"They shall call: O keeper (of Hell) let your Lord make an end [134] of us." He shall say: "You shall stay in it [135]."

✅ [134] Acknowledgement of Waseela in the Hereafter

This verse highlights a dramatic shift in the attitude of the disbelievers. Those who rejected intercession (Waseela) and the need for means or mediators between themselves and Allah in the worldly life will, in the Hereafter, desperately call upon the keepers of Hell—hoping they might act as a medium to ask Allah for relief. This reveals how hopelessness and regret force even the proud to accept realities they denied.

✅ [135] Eternal Stay in Hell

The reply of the Hell-keeper will be devastating: “You shall stay in it.” This confirms that the punishment is everlasting. According to Tafseer Roohul Ma’ani, this response will come only after a thousand years of continual pleading and screaming. The torment will not be relieved by death, and the denial of even that wish adds to their suffering. Their state of despair is a direct result of their persistent rejection of truth during their worldly lives.
