    📖 Commentary of Surah Az-Zumar – Verse 39

    "Please declare: 'O my people, [96] continue to act in the best way, and I will act in my way. Soon you will come to know [97]'."

    ✅ "O my people" – Addressing with Dignity

    [96] From this, emerge a few key points:

    • It is permissible to refer to disbelievers as "my people", but only in terms of nationality, not religious fraternity.

    • This phrase teaches etiquette in da'wah – addressing even opponents with gentleness and respect.

    • The phrase "act in your way" is a command in form, but used to express displeasure and warning, not actual permission. It resembles a stern declaration: “Do as you wish, but know there are consequences.”

    ✅ The Reality Will Soon Be Revealed

    [97] This portion serves as a warning of accountability. The phrase "soon you will come to know" implies:

    • The truth may become evident in this world, through divine signs or worldly consequences.

    • It may manifest in battle, at the time of death, or on the Day of Judgement.

    • Ultimately, it warns that the outcome of one's choices will be made clear, and those who rejected the truth will recognize their error when it is too late.
