📖 Commentary of Surah Az-Zumar – Verse 48

"And their own earned evils will become apparent [121] to them and they will be encircled by that which they used to mock [122]."

✅ [121] Sins Will Be Exposed, Good Deeds Erased

This indicates that the sins of the disbelievers will become fully visible to them in the Hereafter. As for their good deeds, they will be erased, because infidelity nullifies righteous actions. Their evil will remain, but any apparent virtue will hold no value without faith.

✅ [122] Punishment They Mocked Will Encompass Them

This refers to the divine punishments they once mocked, after hearing about them from the Holy Prophet ﷺ. All those warnings will come true and surround them from every side.

In fact, many of these punishments will start to appear even before death, giving them a glimpse of the reality they used to deny and ridicule.
