📖 Commentary of Surah Muhammad – Verse 25

"Surely those that have turned their backs [65], after the guidance has become clear to them—Shaitaan has tempted them and given them false hopes [66]."

✅ [65] Turning Away After Clear Guidance

This refers either to:

  • The disbelieving People of the Book, who initially acknowledged the truth about the Holy Prophet ﷺ in their scriptures, but rejected him after his advent; or

  • The hypocrites, who repeatedly listened to the blessed sermons of the Prophet ﷺ but remained unaffected, turning away from the truth.

✅ [66] Shaytaan’s Twofold Deception

This verse reveals two main tactics of Shaytaan:

  1. Beautifying evil deeds, making sins appear attractive or harmless in the eyes of people.

  2. Instilling false hope, whispering to a person: “Enjoy life now—you can repent before death.”

An intelligent believer, however, views every breath as possibly his last and thus hastens toward good deeds.
The first deception—making evil appear good—is the more dangerous, because it blinds a person from even realizing the need to repent.
