📖 Commentary of Verse 16 (71:16 Surah Nuh)

"And placed the moon within them as a light, and made the sun a lamp?"

✅ The Moon as a Light (24)

  • The moon is positioned in the first heaven, and only half of it is illuminated at a time.

  • Despite this, its light reaches all the heavens because they are transparent.

  • This explains why the verse says, "within them", as the moon’s glow spreads across the skies.

✅ The Sun as a Lamp (25)

  • The sun is called a lamp because it produces and provides light.

  • Unlike the moon, which only reflects light, the sun emits its own bright and powerful rays.

  • The moon and stars receive illumination from the sun, showing its role as a source of light.
